Mega Man X2 again…My sis defeated 4 bosses

A pic of X's extra-life item I drew two nights ago
with MS Paint.

The first hour, I played MMX to find any remaining capsule or health cap item.  I only found one health cap item.  It was in the underwater level with Launch Octopus.  After defeating the ship above the water’s surface, I wait for the ship to be at the bottom of the sea, and then I have X jump down.  To the right is a cave, and there are a few groups of instant-death spikes you have to jump over to get to the other side.  At the end is that robo-snake—the same sub-boss X has to fight before going to the boss.  I tried out the Storm Tornado against it and it beat the robo-snake right away.  Continue to the right of the cave and there is another little place within, where the health cap item waits.

Okay, now for MMX 2. My sister played that one.  I let her know before getting back to it that the boss Gator Wheel was weak against the Bubble weapon (the Crystal weapon won’t do sh**).  So it took some tries, but she defeated the gator and gained the Spin Wheel.  Man, I thought the bosses in the first game were hard.  Next she tried Morpho Moth in the Robot Junkyard level.  The level wasn’t too difficult, a good challenge, but Morpho Moth was impossible at the time.  She moved on to the Volcano level with Flame Stag.  She says the escape part (the one where X has to jump away from the rising lava) is the hardest part of that level, and she figured out how to do it.  There are a certain number of jumps to make before jumping to the other wall.  Some parts require one, some require two or three.  It took much trial and error.  This level is also where Sis got another health cap item, so now in this game X has two.  Flame Stag was weak against the Bubbles also, and she beat him with that.

BOSS                                    WEAPON

• Flame Stag----------------the Speed Burner

• Morph Moth--------------the Silk Shot

• Overdrive Ostrich--------the Sonic Slicer…uh oh, watch out, Sonic…=P

Sis used the Speed Burner against Morpho Moth for the first stage of the fight, and then the second stage of the fight she used the Bubbles. That health cap item certainly helped. When she had X fight the Overdrive Ostrich, she found out that it was weak against the Crystal attack because it freezes it and cracks. When she ran out of crystal power, she switched to the Speed Burner, and with one notch left on X’s health gauge, she defeated the Overdrive Ostrich.

We call the extra life items “Mega-Heads” because they are shaped like X’s head, and the face is frowning. It’s saying, “Please get me. Don’t resist my adorable-ness.” It would be funny if every time X picked up an extra life, there would be text on the bottom of the screen and it would say, “You got a Mega-Head.”

DISSIDIA on March 23

Yayyy, I played Dissidia Final Fantasy on a Bonus Day!!! I started Cloud’s Destiny Odyssey VII.  It was time for Cloud to level up some more anyway, and the best day to do it is on a bonus day.  More Gil, more PP, more AP and more, uh…yes, more Experience Points definitely!!

The first battle I did in DO VII-3 was against the Ephemeral Phantom, so it was Cloud versus Jecht, DP +1: Win the battle.  Hur-yayyy!  Easy, cuz Cloud was close to level 20 and the fake Jecht was level 13.  I left off at DO VII-4.  I did a few battles and then halted level progression.

Firion is  now level 11, Onion Knight is level 4, Cloud is level 21 (from 16) because of his DO during Bonus Day. I enjoyed watching Cloud talk to Firion, Tidus and Cecil about the reason to fight.  Nyaww. It’s like, Wow, they are all having a conversation with each other (I should do a blog post specifically about this conversation... a mini essay, maybe).  I cannot hear Cloud having any other English voice other than Steve Burton.  And then the Cloud versus Firion battle was easy for me, only because I leveled up Cloud plenty before even starting his DO.  I like their conversations about the reason to fight, and I like how Cloud responds with a blink every other time, and then speaks.  So quiet and shy ^,^

"Uh...unhh...I dunno...I just..."
Best Cloud line ever!!!  o,0

I started playing as Jecht, Tidus'  overly-masculine daddy.  I’m more comfortable playing as Jecht than playing as Tidus…I don't have to be nice to Tidus all the time, why should I?  He's annoyingly cheerful and creating an imbalance in the mopey mood everyone else has...except for Zidane and Bartz, cuz their cheerfulness is adorable.  Tidus' cheerfulness is, um...exaggerated?  So as Jecht I say,  “Wipe that smile off yer dam face, son!”  Kicked his sunny ass twice in a row as Jecht. Yeyah!  Then later I gave the Onion Knight equipment, and gave Kuja some leather armor.  No sword for Kuja though, since she he doesn’t fight with swords.

Cloud said some new victory lines as I played his Destiny Odyssey:

“Can’t smile about this one.”

“I won’t sleep well tonight.”

“Man, I need a shower…” (Actually, he didn’t say this one, but I want him to.)

He also said for a new encounter voice, “Guess I have to…”

Anyone wonder why Sephiroth can be shirtless, but Cloud can’t? [sings the chorus to John Mayer’s “Your Body is a Wonderland…”]

Mega Man X2 on March 20

Okay, so MMX needs a little longer of a break.  If I am not wrong, I may need to find a fourth Sub-Tank and/or a fourth piece of armor for X if he is gonna survive the fight with Sigma.  One of those pieces could be around somewhere…

As for MMX 2, I watched my sister play it again.  She defeated the Crystal Snail, and then after she struggled with a few more stages, I took over and was able to find a health capacity item in the level with Wire Sponge.  Unfortunately, that level proved difficult at the time. So I moved on to the water level, the one with Bubble Crab.  (I suck right now, I didn’t have my recorder or note pad with me because it threw me off when my sister got to the game first.  When I remember I’ll make an edit to this post.)  Anyway, I was able to defeat Bubble Crab only because I found the health capacity item.  If I didn’t have that, the battle would be impossible to win, and being careful sometimes isn’t enough.

This game is harder than the first one.  It could also be quite difficult now because X doesn’t have all of the weapons and Sub-Tanks.  I know it will get easier as he gains more stuff.  And poor Zero, he’ll be out of the picture pretty much.  Next boss to go for is either Alligator Wheel or Morpho Moth.

Dissidia on March 17

I returned to Dissidia Final Fantasy on a non-Bonus Day again. Darn. I played plenty of Cloud this time though.

I started with quick battles, Kuja versus Sephiroth, and then Kuja versus Cecil. Then I played Cloud versus Sephiroth (that sounds wayyy too familiar… :3  ) for a couple of battles. I am getting the hang of saving the battles. I even recorded one when Kuja lost (and I was Kuja) and I want to see why Kuja lost, other than the fact that I still need to know when to unleash his attacks. I watched the battles with Kuja and Cloud up closer when I push on the analog “stick”. For a moment I thought I saw Kuja’s buncheeks o.0... O,O... 0.o

I dunno when I'm going to edit the saved battles.  Maybe I can try one next time on a battle I lose, so I don't mess up on editing a battle I really liked (aka I won).  Next I tried Cloud again in Arcade Mode. I forgot who the first two opponents were, but the next three were Terra, Garland, and Kuja. Terra’s a toughie.

I leveled up three characters in this session: Kuja is now level 2, Cloud is up to 16, and Zidane (I saved a battle with HIM too :3 ) is now level 23.

Mega Man X 2!!!!! March 13th

Again, another late post.  But at least it's here...^,^

I let my sister try out MegaMan X2 last Saturday night. She got the hang of it quickly, and what helps is that X keeps his dash move.  He starts with no armor, though.  Dang.  I guess that is a normal part of the game, finding armor and power-ups.  The music for MMX 2 sounds harder than the first game.  It has more of a rock feel to it, for a 1994 game.  The music for the boss is different, and we half-expected the song from the first game to come in at the Crystal Snail boss.  Sis almost beat that boss; she’ll go to that one again and be more careful.  She also had X find his first capsule and obtain the whatsitcalled...it's a helmet that allows X to find hard-to-see items.
X rides a motor-bike in this game!  How cooooooool!!!!!!

No, we didn’t finish MMX yet, but it needs a break.

A LOSS, BUT A GAIN, TOO…Mega Man X, March 12th

I guess I can call Mega Man X a “time suck.”  When my sis and I play the game, it’s on for around three and a half hours to four hours.  We love it.  But lately it’s been taking a lot of my time the last three times I got to it, because I really wanted to finish the game so I can move on to Mega Man X2.  That Sigma just doesn’t give X a chance.  And I keep trying and trying and trying again, and the furthest I’ve ever gotten to defeating Sigma in the final battle is one-fifth of his hit points.  It sucks.  The traps that are included in this battle don’t give X much of a window to escape.  The dash only helps a little bit. As a result of trying again so many times, it was definitely more than four hours, maybe it was six.  I’ve never played a video game for THAT long of a time.  I won’t do it again.

I played the Sigma level again, defeating all the bosses before I can even get to him again.  During the night’s playing session on MMX, I learned a few things.  That robot animal in the final stage of the Sigma level shoots fire half of the time.  The many times I tried fighting that thing, I haven’t used the ice weapon yet.  So I gave it a try, and that’s what it was weakest against.  Ice!!  Of course!!  Why didn’t I try it earlier?  Now I can defeat that thing with out needing to have X use up a Sub-Tank.  I don’t want X using any of the tanks until he gets to the final battle.

Then I get to Sigma.  Okay, so how does he fight?  He uses his light-saber of a sort, and jumps from side to side (or wall to wall, actually), and goes higher up each time.  That’s all he does most of the time.  I wait until he jumps five times, and then as he’s jumping away from X, I have X shoot an Electric Spark at him.  The E. Spark takes out two hit points from Sigma, which is fine by me cuz it’s better than just one at a time.  Several times I defeated Sigma in this part without having to use any of my tank yet.  It’s’ not so bad as long as I know what to do.

Then X is not out of the bubble yet. Sigma doesn’t die so easily.  There seems to be one more battle, and this battle is the most f***ing hard battle ever.  But…I have to be extra careful, just don’t let X get hurt by those bursts of electricity coming from the platforms’ tops and bottoms.  That hurts X the most.  Like I said, only one-fifth of Sigma’s hit points were down and that was the best try.
I’m not giving up.  I will just take a break, for my thumb’s sake, and get back to it soon, when I have the patience.

Is there a fourth Sub-Tank?  That would be nice.  But I have no idea where…

Mega Man X on Tuesday March 9th continued…

This post is late due to a back-log.  Sorry for the delay.

With three Sub-Tanks, new body armor and a slightly-increased health capacity, we thought X was ready to take on the final bosses.
By the way, now I know that the Bobafett Guy is actually called “Vile”.  So, after X defeated Vile, there was some more level left to go before a rendezvous with a boss I thought was defeated, Boomer Kuwanger.  That meant the other bosses might make a comeback as well. Fortunately I used the dash a lot in the battle with Boomer and though I had to use a tank, refilling it wasn’t going to be a problem.

I had no idea what order the bosses were going to appear in, but X had all the weapons, and three tanks instead of the one.  After that battle, there are some enemies to destroy, and many of them return, which is great because every battle should be started with three full tanks, full energy and full weapons energy.  Often though, replenishing the tanks can be time-consuming if the enemies don’t give you what you need right away.

I don’t know if I want to say the order of all the bosses that appeared in the game again, in case anyone who wants to discover or rediscover the game again wants to find out for themselves. I can say this, though; after Boomer Kuwanger, the other bosses that return are much easier.  Um, except for the Sting Chameleon, so I had to let my sister fight against him again.  She does it so well. I pretty much played the rest of the game, and I felt bad for sort of “hogging it,” so I’ll let my sister do the honors of starting Mega Man X2.

Tuesday I did reach Sigma again. By that time, my thumb was tired and I was getting hungry.  I figured I’d have to use a tank per battle, right?  And it was a very windy night.  I said, “The wind had better NOT blow the power out, or I will be VERY MAD!!”

To be continued…

The next plan for Mega Man X...

For Mega Man X on Tuesday (March 9th), my sis and I decided to mainly focus on having X get his much needed power ups so that he can survive the last several battles.  I went to the Sting Chameleon level and found a sub-boss that I had to defeat, and then when I did, a capsule appeared.  So X got his body armor.  I also went to the Armor Armadillo level and found a second Sub-Tank in a place I never checked out before, the part before the first rock-digging machine starts to dig.  I wait until it leaves, then go behind where it was waiting before, and that's where I found that Sub-Tank.  Then I handed the game to my sister, and she found a red life-energy that increases the max health.  It was hard to get...but she used the boomerang cutter weapon to grab it from above.  She went to the Spark Mandrill level to get the hard-to-reach sub-tank, and now currently, X has three Sub-Tanks to fill, which is great.  Time-consuming, but great.
Then I decided, let's try to finish this game.  X is much more powerful now with the armor, increase in health capacity, and the three Sub-Tanks.
To make the extremely long story short...after the ten or so boss battles, I finally reached Sigma, and I thought I defeated him, but then I didn't.  There is Sigma Battle #2 still.  [Heavy Sigh]  My thumb was very tired from all the other battles and the repetetive jumping and charge shots and Sub-Tank replenishing, and I played long enough, so I had to stop.  And you know what?  I have to play all those bosses all over again!  From the very beginning of the Sigma chapter (well, the Sigma level that is divided into several stages, anyway)!
To be continued...

Dissidia on March 8th

This will just be a  brief update on my progress in Dissidia Final Fantasy.
I finished Zidane's Destiny Odyssey, in which he said his cheesy "Easy peasy" line again 3 times.   It was so cool to watch the action scene right before Zidane fights Kuja in DO IX-5.  Yayyy, go Zidane!!  So after that, I unlocked the Museum.....enjoyed the Character bios and 3D views...
  • In the Quick Battles I fought as Firion against Sephroth, then it was versus Squall.
  • I leveled up Cloud from 14 to 15.
  • I recorded a battle, Cloud vs Sephiroth.
  • I bought equipment and accessories for Firion, Cloud, and Zidane.
  • Unlocked Encounter Voices for Cloud and Zidane, I think Firion too.
  • Cloud Cloud Cloud Cloud Cloud.  I say Cloud too darn much.
I might start a new DO next time.  Maybe Cloud.   Oops, did it again...

This would have been an avatar I'd use for
The LifeStream Forums, but then I changed my
mind and when I went with TheSkyIsMine,
I made the sky face.  Well, maybe I'll alternate...

Dream of a big confusion…?

Before I woke up Monday morning, I dreamed that I was in an anime convention’s dealer’s hall (merchandise and stuff) and I finally gathered the balls to buy a Cloud plushie.  I wanted a Cloud one and Ed Elric from Full Metal Alchemist.  Then for some reason after I bought the Cloud plushie, it turned into a Squall, and then a little later a Zidane pluhsie (almost didn’t recognize him).  Maybe it’s a reminder for me to GET BACK TO DISSIDIA!!!!!!  And finish Zidane’s Destiny Odyssey.

Yayy, I got a Cloud doll!  Squeezie time...!
Oops...the dealer gave me a Squall doll instead?  I don't want
Squall, I wanted a Cloud...
Ooooo, a Zidane plushie!  I can do with that :)...

Aww, it was only a dream  >.<

I Joined The Lifestream Forums!!!!

Some of you might know already, about The Lifestream.net.  I am a Final Fantasy VII fan after all, so why not?  I want to talk to other fans about the original video game, the movie sequel, and Dirge of Cerberus, and Crisis Core, and Dissidia Final Fantasy. Hopefully FFVII: Advent Children Complete.  I want to see how the hell Cloud gets his face cut.  And who doesn’t want to see and extended fight between Cloud and Sephiroth?

In the new forums I am TheSkyIsMine.  Clouds are in the sky.  And Caelum--Noctis’s last name--means sky.  So yeah.  Nyaww.  Cloud and Caelum.

My avatar.

So now I am in two video game fandom forums: The NiGHTS Community Forums and The Lifestream Forums. After discovering Mega Man X9.com though, I even considered joining their forums but, as it happens, I only just got into the MMX series, so I don’t want to risk major spoilage (is that a word?) in terms of the MMX story.

I should visit the NiGHTS forums again.  It’s been a while since I logged in.  Last time I did was around when I found out there that NiGHTS was added in Sonic and SEGA Allstar Racing as Flagman, or Flag-Babe, so that was…early January?  Man…

MEGA MAN X…Where the Hell is Sigma?!!!!!!

Warning…another long post.
I started playing Mega Man X at 8pm Friday.  The first thing to do was to take out the Armor Armadillo (this was before I realized I can replay the levels without having to defeat the bosses again, having acquired their weapon powers ;] ) I also hoped to find Sigma (second thing) and destroy him, and begin MMX2 (third thing).  Ah heh heh.  Well, I did the first thing, but not the second thing and the third thing. Details below.

So the level wasn’t really difficult, and the song was one of my favorites in the game so far, aside from Zero’s theme growing on me.  I defeated Armor Armadillo me using the Electric Spark first and then the, um, ice weapon. I lost a life and used up the Sub Tank in the process, but I got through it.

Zero: “Finally, we found Sigma’s Fortress! Let’s go and put an end to his war against humans.”

Me: “They’re both blinking! At different times! :3 And then the game takes me to the level-select screen and it shows Sigma. I said, “So that’s what Sigma looks like here? Yikes.”

Zero: “Let’s split up.”

Me: “Nooo, don’t split up, go togetherrrrr!!” (But I knew he had the right idea.)

The level was frustrating at first; there are these moving platforms that X has to jump on and up higher to the next one to go where he needs to, and then these flying enemies keep getting in his way.  I learned on my own that the fire weapon gets those guys the fastest.  Soon I reach where I’d think is the boss, and the Boba-Fett Guy appears.  (I do NOT know his name, so for the time being, I am going to call him Bobafett-Guy because that is who he looks like.)  Then Zero comes in too!! “Stay back X ,” he says. “I’ll take him on!” Yayyy, Zero helps out X again!!!!  Zero and Bobafett Guy go to the next room.  There is nothing else to do around here so I move on.  As X advances on, he (and we) hear Zero’s charge shot and another attack sound.  And then nothing.  Not even music.

“Huh?....There was fighting…The music stopped. I’m scared….!” Sis says, “Me too!” Then we shout NOOOOO because Bobafett Guy has Zero in captivity, immobilized.

Bobafett Guy: “X, do what I tell you or he’s history.”

Zero: “Don’t listen to him, X, just blast him.”

Bobafett Guy line paraphrased: “My armored carrier is more powerful than your ancient weapon.”

Me: “Is that so, you booger?!”  Maybe I was supposed to save my energy thing…

Zero jumps on Bobafett Guy’s armored carrier and charges a point-blank blast…..and that’s when he first becomes Zero the Martyr…>.<  I kinda knew it was gonna happen based on some research I did before buying the series.

I fought the Bobafett Guy with the newly acquired Rolling Shield attack, which was the strongest power against him.  After that, my sister and I have both tried to get passed this level so many times, losing extra lives and weapon energy.  Unhappy thumbs :( .  And when we thought that we’d reach Sigma for sure, it was Boomer Kuwanger who made the appearance instead.  Do you mean to tell me that I HAVE TO FIGHT ALL THE BOSSES AGAIN????
I hope not.  They had better give me extra weapon energy, then.

RETURN TO CRISIS CORE: FFVII on March 5

Yaaaaayyyyy!!!!!!

So I finally returned to Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, and let me tell you guys, it was well over a month since I last put this game in my PSP.  I checked the previous file and it indicated 1-30-10 was the last time I played it.  Well, it’s about time.

(SPOILERS Probably...)  I really like how Zack is handling Cloud. He could probably put him over his shoulder and carry him, but he helps him walk.  Buddy bonding…Nyaaww, how nice.  They are still trying to get out of Nibelhiem.  Once they reach the area in Nibelhiem where there are houses, a group of soldiers try to stop Zack, and Zack has to fight them.  One of them tries to take Cloud away.  I can’t get to him until I take out all the other soldiers. Poor Cloud, they’re just dragging him like he’s some bag of….something.  Another soldier tries to take Cloud, then another…

After all that fighting, they “regroup” back to the Shinra Manor.  They go to the bedroom and that is where they rest for the night, and also that is where Zack gives Cloud his change of clothes. O.0…Nuff said about that :3 Then Zack decided he should go to Midgar cuz he remembers about Aeris’ tiny wishes. He asks Cloud, “You wanna come with me?”  Uh, as if Cloud has any SAY in the matter, Zack, jeez!   He can’t move or say worth a sh** while he’s poisoned with Mako.

There was different music playing in the background while Zack was fighting the soliers earlier.  As they are leaving Nibelhiem, there is yet again different music playing, unlike the other songs that played in any of the areas.  It could be because it’s an area that Zack never went to before.  Okay, that makes sense.  So then Zack comes across these patrol machines that he has to use sniper rifles to destroy.  I think, “Oh no, I am usually not good at these things…I mean, I was below par in Dirge of Cerberus for any missions that needed sniping.”  I think I had about 7 FLED points total, so I couldn’t use those to upgrade the sniper rifle. But I definitely did very well in the enemies that appear on Zack’s field.  Those helped me upgrade the rifle to Attack Power LV4, Steady Aim LV 3, Wide Area LV 3 and a Smart Bomb.

Roughly an hour after I started playing the game, I found a save point.  I knew one was coming because I looked at the map for the area and saw the symbol for it, and I’m like, “Okay, that is where I am going to stop for the session.”  There is an ocean view and the full moon at night.  How romantic, isn’t it?  Anyway, I have a feeling that the next time I get to Crisis Core I am going to finish it.  Friday was not a good day to do it.  I’d be returning to Mega Man X later that day.  At least I moved on a little further into the story of Crisis Core, and that’s what I wanted to do.

MEGA MAN X on March 2…FOUR BOSSES DEFEATED!!!

Warning: This is a very long post. A lot happened.
Yesterday we did have some time to get further in this wonderful 16-bit video game.  And it was very successful!!  My sister and I make a great MMX team.

Okay, so here’s what happened.  I wanted to try the level with the Sting Chameleon boss first.  I said, “Go Fire Mega Man”…It was an unsuccessful attempt; maybe X needed more weapons than the storm tornado, the ice and the fire.  So then I moved on to the level with the Launch Octopus boss.

Get get get go go go go go…! Go go go go go go go go go…! It’s 2 (HP) versus 2 (HP)…(Both my sis and I shout: ) NOOOOOO!!!!!”

I almost made it that time.  Launch Octopus had two hit points left, and so did X, but he got me first. Dammit.  But I did have some extra lives, so with the next chance I won the fight, and the storm tornado weapon worked the best for this one.  I also discovered the benefit of the Sub Tank: when I get extra health containers while X’s health gauge is full, then these extra health containers fill up the Sub Tank. That can prove very helpful. It’s like a partial extra life, or when all the way full, this Sub Tank “is another extra life,” as my sister said.  We are going to use this extra power when we’re on the last life doing pretty good in a boss battle.  So I’m gonna keep collecting those.  You can never have too much energy to go around, I'd like to think.

X gained the Homing Torpedo weapon from Launch Octopus, which will come in handy later in the playing session.  After that battle/level, I handed the game over to my sister so I can take a break ^.^ She started the level with Boomer Kuwanger, the boss with the boomerang cutter weapon.  I hated that level; I never reached the boss when I tried it earlier.  But she not only got further than I did, she reached the boss…and defeated Boomer Kuwanger!!  She used the Homing Torpedoes that I acquired from Launch Octopus.  Ugh, lucky. Oh well ^,^ Yay, another boss down!

There was a Max-Energy item somewhere in that level and we couldn’t get to it.  Was there some kind of ability that X was supposed to get that would allow him to reach these hard-to-reach important items?

To give sis a break, I took over the game and went to the level with Spark Mandrill as the boss.  I hated this level too, because there were many obstacles (like the electric shock balls those big blue machines spit out) but of course the music helped me deal with it.  There was another hard-to-get item in this level, some kind of tank.  It was impossible, and what could X do to even get to it at all? [Heavy sigh].  Anyway, it was a stage that was pretty difficult, and after a few tries I reached the boss.  Somehow, the Spark Mandrill’s weakness is the ice weapon; this boss froze whenever I had X use the ice weapon.  So after losing a life, I used only the ice weapon and right after the Spark Mandrill broke out of his ice, X shot him again with more ice again, and I repeated this technique until X won the battle.  Hah, the battle was easier than the level itself!

From that boss I acquired the, um…Electric Spark weapon.  By the way, we think it’s so adorable when X defeats a boss and then at the end of the “you win the battle” jingle, X punches the air like “YEAH!!” and he’s smiling! Smiling!! Soooo cuuuuute!!!!

My sis took over the game for me and returned to the level that I tried to finish earlier, the forest level with the Sting Chameleon. I didn’t have a problem with this level…neither did my sister…but the Sting Chameleon is a pain.  We both are annoyed at the sound it makes when it disappears and reappears again. It took the both of us several tries, but we found out that at the top of the boss stage there are instant-death spikes.  X dies when he jumps too high to avoid Sting Chameleon’s Irontongue attack.  It wasn’t obvious at first, but once we knew about the spikes, we lost lives less frequently.  At one point when I tried the boss, I had four extra lives and a full Sub Tank and a full health bar. Lost all of those  >:(  But my sis came up with a strategy: use the Homing Torpedo one at a time for the whole battle. Use the Sub Tank to stay alive for the rest of it.

(HINT: to fill up the sub tank, the robo woodpeckers spit out green caterpillars that often give out health items. There’s only one or two each new bird, so backtrack and then return to the birds, and they will spit out the green guys again. Continue until Sub Tank is full.)

I gave my sis a break and went through the level, getting a full Sub Tank and keeping the health bar as full as possible in the end.  Then I handed my sister the boss battle, and she stuck to her strategy and with patience and constant avoiding, defeated Sting Chameleon! :D Yayy, we’re a team! So between the two of us we defeated seven of the eight bosses: Storm Eagle (me), Chill Penguin (sis), Flame Mammoth (me), Launch Octopus (me), Boomer Kuwanger (sis), Spark Mandrill (me), and Sting Chameleon (sis). That leaves, um…Armor Armadillo. We’re not competing for who defeats the most bosses in this game, because we are both having fun watching and playing. We learn from the other player and help each other out. Now that I think about it, this game is best played by two people who take turns.

Phew…long-ass post. Next time to this game might be either Friday or Saturday. Expect a post on Crisis Core: FFVII coming up.

My playing plan for the next few days

Okay so here's the plan.  I said over and over again that I have to return to Crisis Core: Vinal Vantasy VII Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII very soon.  I will do that this week.  However, Tuesday is also my Bonus Day for Dissidia Final Fantasy.  I don't have to play Dissidia on every Bonus Day, although that would be very nice.  My sis and I are very eager to return to Mega Man X again, so...
NOW here's the plan.  I'd like to play Mega Man X with my sister today.  I hope to have some time in between.  At least two hours.  Yeah.  Then, on Wednesday evening, I'd like to return to Crisis Core.  I did say I wanted Crisis Core to be the next game I get to on the PSP, so that is what it will be.

Last time in Crisis Core I left off with Zack and Cloud (nyaw) escaping the Shinra Lab and right now they are at the bottom floor of the Shinra Manor.  That is where the save point is.  I had to stop there because of my PSP's low battery power.  Ugh, I might have to play a couple of side missions to refresh my memory on the controls for CC:VVVII  CC:FFVII.  Godd----t, I made that "f-to-v mistake" again =P

Trying Mega Man X8 and Mega Man X Command Mission

I tried out Mega Man X8 and Mega Man X Command Mission to see if those used games worked.  They both work beautifully.  In the cinematic intro scene for Mega Man X8, X’s face reminds me of the main character Takeru from the sci-fi anime Freedom.  I didn't get too far in the first level, and I used both "retry chips"; I'll start again from the very beginning, I don't mind.  The game play is fun and I enjoy using Axl’s hovering ability when shooting enemies that are in mid-air.  Aww, Axl is helping X out, how sweet.

     But X belongs to Zero…:3

I looooooove the music from Mega Man X Command Mission.  I waned to dance to it at a few points. And it’s an RPG genre game, so…yuh know…RANDOM BATTLES. [Dead pan] NOOOOOOO.  But I deal with it.  I want to know what happens in the story anyway, and plus, the random battles are extra opportunities to level up and get, uh… “zenny” (that’s money, I guess).  It took me a while to realize that the blue, green and yellow crystal-like things were containers with items in them.  I didn’t know a dash could open them up until I was near done with the first mission, or something.

At the end of every battle, X says, “[Sigh] I did it!!” and punches the air with his…cannon arm thing.  This is cute now, but I might get sick of it later and hope he starts saying something different from “I did it!”  I'll try to remember to use my voice recorder again.

Reminder:  I must charge my PSP’s battery.  Must play Crisis Core: FFVII but I’m enjoying playing tooooo much Mega Man X….

Mega Man X on Feb. 27th and 28th

I couldn’t get back to Mega Man X until a whole three days passed (uh, yeah, that how much we love the game).  My sis and I are so eager to get back to this game; it’s one of our most favorite things to look forward to.  The music from the levels in the game would be playing over and over in our heads and one of us would say “The song from [this level] is stuck in my head right now,” and the other one of us would say, “Me too!” or “The one from [this part] is stuck in MY head.”

Well for the short version of these last two playing sessions with Mega Man X, I beat the Storm Eagle, my sister beat the Chill Penguin, and then I defeated the Fire Mammoth. Acquiring those new weapons really helps.  Currently I left off at the level where X has to go underwater most of the time.  It is one of the longest levels so far.  The boss would be Launch Octopus, and he’s a meanie.  The bosses are annoyingly frustrating because touching them would mean a guarantee of NOT winning the battle.  Dashing to the other side while it jumps is the best way for X to avoid touching Launch Octopus at all, and the Storm Tornado weapon seems to work the best against it.  The Storm Tornado destroys most of the little torpedoes the octopus shoots at X and might even hit the boss if I time the attack right.  But so far I’ve only been unsuccessful.  At least I have a bit of a strategy.
I wonder if we have to try another level first, then go back to that underwater one.  I believe the Armor Armadillo is extremely difficult, having come across this boss in one batch of lives.  That level might be last.

My sis and I take turns playing this game.  If one of us has trouble getting through a level, she takes a break and the other sister takes over and gives it a try.
