A LOSS, BUT A GAIN, TOO…Mega Man X, March 12th

I guess I can call Mega Man X a “time suck.”  When my sis and I play the game, it’s on for around three and a half hours to four hours.  We love it.  But lately it’s been taking a lot of my time the last three times I got to it, because I really wanted to finish the game so I can move on to Mega Man X2.  That Sigma just doesn’t give X a chance.  And I keep trying and trying and trying again, and the furthest I’ve ever gotten to defeating Sigma in the final battle is one-fifth of his hit points.  It sucks.  The traps that are included in this battle don’t give X much of a window to escape.  The dash only helps a little bit. As a result of trying again so many times, it was definitely more than four hours, maybe it was six.  I’ve never played a video game for THAT long of a time.  I won’t do it again.

I played the Sigma level again, defeating all the bosses before I can even get to him again.  During the night’s playing session on MMX, I learned a few things.  That robot animal in the final stage of the Sigma level shoots fire half of the time.  The many times I tried fighting that thing, I haven’t used the ice weapon yet.  So I gave it a try, and that’s what it was weakest against.  Ice!!  Of course!!  Why didn’t I try it earlier?  Now I can defeat that thing with out needing to have X use up a Sub-Tank.  I don’t want X using any of the tanks until he gets to the final battle.

Then I get to Sigma.  Okay, so how does he fight?  He uses his light-saber of a sort, and jumps from side to side (or wall to wall, actually), and goes higher up each time.  That’s all he does most of the time.  I wait until he jumps five times, and then as he’s jumping away from X, I have X shoot an Electric Spark at him.  The E. Spark takes out two hit points from Sigma, which is fine by me cuz it’s better than just one at a time.  Several times I defeated Sigma in this part without having to use any of my tank yet.  It’s’ not so bad as long as I know what to do.

Then X is not out of the bubble yet. Sigma doesn’t die so easily.  There seems to be one more battle, and this battle is the most f***ing hard battle ever.  But…I have to be extra careful, just don’t let X get hurt by those bursts of electricity coming from the platforms’ tops and bottoms.  That hurts X the most.  Like I said, only one-fifth of Sigma’s hit points were down and that was the best try.
I’m not giving up.  I will just take a break, for my thumb’s sake, and get back to it soon, when I have the patience.

Is there a fourth Sub-Tank?  That would be nice.  But I have no idea where…

Dissidia Final Fantasy, Jan. 3rd

On Sunday night January 3rd I played Dissidia Final Fantasy only for a little while.  As I said last time I wanted to play Quick Battles as Zidane after I returned to Crisis Core, but the Tonnberry mission took so long that I decided I played enough.
I played plenty of Quick Battles and leveled up the characters.  I am getting a little better at activating the characters' EX Modes.  I have to keep gathering all those little white dots and the bells with the wings; that is what the EX Force and EX Cores are.   I learned that whenever the screen says "EX Core in play"  I try to get to it.  Unfortunately this made me hate Squall (in other words get mad at him) because before I could reach the EX Core, he often got it before me and I shout "No, you motherf*****!"  And an occasional "Godd****t!" here and there.  Really, Squall is not a bad guy, he's just fast.
Zidane's EX Mode form is...um...interesting.  How Square Enix gets away with it is beyond me.  Terra's Esper form too.  I thought the rating on the back of the box said "Partial Nudity"???
I played an Arcade Mode game as Zidane and got 300PP in the Arcade Mode.  Sephiroth was the my fourth opponent, and he is soooo hard to fight.  In fact I had to rematch because he wouldn't give Zidane a break!  EX Death was my fifth opponent and he was really difficult too, but Zidane didn't lose to him.  Hah, it's easy now, but it's gonna get more difficult the more I play this game and the more I play through the story.  It's too bad I can't level up characters in Arcade Mode.  But I had a lot of fun.  Next time I get to the game I will move on in the story mode.
I also played as Cloud several times in the Quick Battles...the Onion Knight in one, and Firion in another (I won and his cape was flowing in the breeze during the victory pose).  Firion is angry, he needs victories to make him smile ^_^

When my PSP says it's sleep-time

This happened twice, both times as I played Crisis Core.
The second time it happened, Zack was in this snowy area and fought a lot of monsters (and gained some gil on the side!).  Already, the green power light on my PSP was flashing, and it was for at least ten minutes.  Then, I come across this powerful enemy with one wing (not Genesis), stronger than the usual monsters.  During the battle the DMW was activated.  I thought "Oh my gosh, I don't NEED that right now, I gotta find the save point from all the way back near the beginning of the area...!"  So it was going to match three faces ( forgot which character already) but then it switched to summons mode, and by a lucky spin, it was Ifrit.
Lucky?  Uh, NO!  That's because the cinematics showing while Ifrit prepares his attack take up...... BATTERY POWER.  Oh no, oh no, oh no, please hang on, hang on!  I want to save!  So the battle was successful of course, Zack being Zack, and me being Zack and all that.  I had Zack run run run to where I thought the save point was located (no map available there).  I was sure I was really close...
And then the PSP turned off on me.
For those who have a PSP, I have some advice.  Take it from me.  If this happens to you in the middle of playing a game, wait for a minute or two, and then turn the unit on again. There should be enough battery power left to do the next thing if you do it fast. Right after it is turned on, push the Home button and stop the playback of the UMD.  In other words, you have to quit the game.  I read it's not a good idea to take the UMD out if the game hasn't been quit.
It should allow you to safely take the UMD out before turning off on you again.  I learned from this and it took me two times.  Now I always check my battery power before and after playing, and when the green light is flashing, I plan on saving or stopping as soon a possilbe...or right away if I have to.
