KINGDOM HEARTS 3 AND FINAL FANTASY XV FOR PLAYSTATION 4?!!!

When I first found out about this last week, I couldn’t tell whether I was laughing or crying.

These two Square Enix video games—Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy Versus XIII (which I found out is now titled Final Fantasy XV)—are going to be released for the SONY Playstation 4.  The friggin’ PLAYSTATION 4?!!!  WHUT THE AKSKJFHSGLDK@#*!

Okay…okay…I am calm.  I must admit, I was hoping that Final Fantasy Versus XIII would still be released for the PS3.  I mean, that is the friggin’ reason why I wanted the PS3 in the first place.  I only have three video games for the PS3: Sonic Generations, Devil May Cry 4, and …uh… used Prince of Persia (2008) that I just bought this past March.  That's all the PS3 games I personally have.  I can play Blu-Ray DVDs on it too (which allows me to watch my #1 favorite movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete) and Casshern Sins on Blu-Ray.  My parents also enjoy the Blu-Ray DVDs on occasion, and my dad has his PS3 games.  Maybe some day I’d like to try out DmC: Devil May Cry on the PS3.

So, I am glad that Kingdom Hearts is returning with a real sequel, not to mention that Sora is returning!!!  And I am also happy that the now-titled Final Fantasy XV is continuing development.  I just wish that I foresaw that it wouldn’t make it to what is a “current-gen” console right now, the PS3.

$400 for the PS4 is not so bad; in fact, it’s reasonable.  But the video games for this gaming system are going to be $100 a pop.  Sorta balances out the surprisingly reasonable release price for the console. What I mean to say is, buying the console would cost $500 anyway if you were to also buy a video game along with it.

Well, I am not going to worry about buying the PS4 or Kingdom Hearts 3 or Final Fantasy XV any time too soon.  They won’t be out in a while, and then when they are out, the games should be $20 less and then maybe I’d consider purchasing them.  In the meantime, I‘ve got some other video games I have to finish.  I’ll just name some right off my head:

• Prince of Persia 2008 (PS3)
• Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy (PSP)
• Mega Man X8  (PS2)
• Shadow the Hedgehog (don’t hate me  >X ) (PS2)

They will keep me busy in between my new workdays, I suppose.  Next-gen can definitely wait.

 

The story of how I got into Kingdom Hearts and ultimately, Square Enix PART 1

It was the summer of 2002, in September. I had finished playing Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, and I was ready to buy a new PlayStation 2 game. I had no idea what I wanted. I thought about the game Sky Gunner, which was cute and a fly-shooter genre, but I knew there were other choices.

I remember a trailer for a video game that I watched from a demo DVD from the now defunct Official PlayStation Magazine. This was a trailer for Kingdom Hearts. The music was cinematic and there were Disney characters like Donald Duck and Goofy. It seemed that the main character was this spiky-haired boy with blue eyes. My first thoughts were “What? Who’d wanna play that game? A boy enters the world of Disney and meets Tarzan and Ariel and everyone else? What the f***? Tsh, who cares.”

Then on September 20 (and it was a Friday, I remember that detail) sitting in my keyboarding class in high school, I was looking forward to buying a new video game later that afternoon. It was a really good day, and knowing I’d buy a new game made it even better. Later that day at home, I was watching Pokémon (when I still watched it) and during a commercial break, a TV ad for Kingdom Hearts began. It started with a piano key note in “A” with the words SQUARE ENIX on the screen. Then as the visuals for the game were showing, the chorus for “Simple and Clean” played in the background. “Oh, I love that song. That sounds nice! What game is it for…Kingdom Hearts? Ya know, I just might buy that game!” And ultimately I did…because I liked the song.

I got the strategy guide for it too. It was the very first video game strategy guide that I bought (and there would be more to come).

Later, I’ll write about how my love for Kingdom Hearts led me to my love for Final Fantasy VII and generally Square Enix. I’ll give you guys a hint: it’s spelled C-L-O-U-D.   ^,^ 

Kingdom Hearts goodness!

     I want to thank the writer of the Kingdom Hearts blog What's in a Heart? for listing the websites KH Insider and KH-Vids.net  on the sidebar, and bringing us Kingdom Hearts fans some Kingdom Hearts goodness.  I visit these websites almost every time I go online on my computer.  I visited KH-Vids.net for the very first time this afternoon, and I have to say I am so thrilled that I can see some of my favorite scenes from Kindgom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II without having to search for years-old game files or play the game all over again to see them.  It's awesome!! ^.^
